I like the genetics that go on behind coloring (dilutes, muddy, ticking, merleing etc..) Somethign that may be more beneficial is finding out more about immunology.

That is a mess. Now I have a question. How did they get the breed "nas. mini aussie" or whatever you want to call it? Did they selectively breed smaller Australian shepherds until they got as small as they are? Or did they breed An Australian shepherd with a smaller breed like a Pomeranian...
