Pre CD. It's a class before the CD class. It's not official (I dont' think, maybe it is now?). Ask Terry about it, Ralf has his PCD...I've never competed in it. There's also a class between novice and open now.

I think it's official... They sent me a certificate in the mail!! Oh.. When I received my Rally Novice cert in the mail the CKC included all the titles for his name! Ch Caitland Vanilla Ice PCD CGN... So me thinks it's official!

I entered the class to get Ralf ring exposure... I am glad I did! Even if it was just an exibition class I would have still entered.. There is still a judge.. Still other competitors watching.. A show situation as it were! Myself being a total dog show newbie I will take all the ring time I can get!

edited to ad... Some of the long time obed compititors voiced an opinion of what a waste of time and money the class was.. But I think... they were new once too and would have probably entered had it been available at the time! Some of those obedience folks are not nice people! I get the serious compitition and all... but really if a new face comments on what a good job you have done with your dog or asks a question, don't just snort and walk away!! I should mention too that these folks were all at ckc all breed trials!

Excellent, thankyou!

And Terry, those naysayers are probably the same people that poopoo Rally as it's not "real" obedience work. Whatever. ;)

And THEY are one of the reasons I don't do competative obedience anymore. What happened to a "hey, good try, your dog was really having fun out there"...you never hear any encouragment unless you're in the high 190's, who cares if the dog has fun, as long as it does it's little robotic routine. And even then...my dogs often scored 195 and up, and there was never encouragement coming out there was always "oh well he sat crooked here", "don't you train that this way?" ...so negative adn so condescending. It was a huge rude awakening for me as I started when I was 12 and being one of the only juniors on the island was always having clubs almost fight over me so I could be their protege. Then I hit about 18 and suddenly became the competition and the gloves came off. At least around here, obedience ppl can be very very nasty. I found the rally much more fun.

As competitive dogsport becomes more a venture for the masses and less for the small group, some really need to take a step back and reasses. Some people are very inviting, gracious. Some not so much. It's unfortunate really as each new person that is turned off by a person's bad attitude is another nail in the coffin of some sports where the numbers are sliding fast like obedience.

Noone is saying that a competitive spirit isn't appropriate or that people need to carry thicker skin. Simply to observe the golden rule: if you can't be nice, shut up and back off. ;)

Personally, i can't wait for ASCA Rally. Si is practicing his heel patterns.
