BC Breeders

Postby Cpersall » Sun Oct 27, 2013 7:27 pm

I'm just starting to check out breeders in BC or AB (I'm in BC). There are a couple in BC and one in AB that I've contacted that are listed on the CNASA. They are Sendoa and Mountain Ash and Caitland. They look promising but I was hoping to get some personal experience/recommendations. I wont be ready for a puppy for another year or so, so I'm not in a hurry and I'm ok with a breeder that doesnt breed too often. Thanks :)

You sure you're not ready now? lol! I'm on Vancouver Island, I just haven't gotten my contact info listed on CNASA yet. I probably won't have another litter for five years or so though.

I'd love another puppy now, but I'm not sure my 500 square foot house would fair very well with 2 aussies and a cat :/. And I made the mistake of looking at your puppy pics.

I once lived in a 1 bedroom, 500sq ft suite with my boyfriend and my 2 aussies who were 6 months and 1.5 years at the time. It really wasn't that bad since most of the time I spent indoors was not get-up-and-go-crazy playing time. We had a yard and either they would be unattended in crates in the house, out and about on a walk with me, or relaxing in the evening while I made dinner. A very wise lady posted on facebook this morning "there's no good time to get a puppy, so just do it".

I rent right now, and while my current landlord is good with my pets and would likely be ok with a puppy, I'm worried about needing to find a new place with 2 dogs. A friend just bought a larger property that will have an 800 sq ft coach house, have a fenced yard, and will be 100% ok with having my pets, she would even help out with the puppy. My bf and I are also working towards getting married, and that would mean a change in housing as well and hopefully a bit less work. So I'm nervous to get another dog before I have all that sorted out. My current place is small enough that I'm not even sure where I'd put puppy's crate or another set of food bowls. But I really want to get another before my aussie is an old man so he can enjoy the company. I also wasnt really expecting to find available puppies right away. But I do very much like your old lady's advice.

I lived in a 650 sf apartment with five dogs, a ferret, two cats and a slob of a boyfriend. I got rid of the boyfriend, kept the rest.
